I am headed to LSD-50 the uss Carter Hall can anyone tell me what it is like being on one of these ships?
I just graduated ET a school
My hubby is also on an amphib ship, but his is smaller than yours and stationed in Norfolk instead of Little Creek. He likes it, but he says its a pain when all the Marines are on board. I can't speak for the food on the Carter Hall, but I've had the food on my husband's and its not the greatest, but its pretty good, all things considered. We live about 10 minutes from Little Creek, so I spend more time there than at Norfolk at the commissary and NEX and such, and its a nice base. Its much smaller than Norfolk, so there usually aren't huge lines of cars and traffic waiting to get onto base early in the morning. Virginia Beach is a nice area with a lot of stuff to do, so I think you'll like it here.
