Do you feel the same about nursing a toddler in public as you do about nursing an infant?
I've seen lots of women nursing infants in public. All well and good. Never seen anyone nursing a toddler (probably because toddlers are eating food and don't need boob pretty much constantly).
I ask this only because my baby will be 23 months when #2 is born, so if she decides she wants in on the action...would it be more appropriate to go inside? ...provided I even feel comfortable...still undecided on that!
But just for kicks, what would you think if you saw a toddler nursing in public?
I know there's lots of varying opinions on nursing toddlers, I'm just curious if anyone has seen it or what they would think if they happened to!
There is nothing wrong with nursing a toddler AT ALL.
This is why females feel they have to hide it when they are doing the right thing by their baby. Of course the child still has other food and water but there is nothing wrong with breast-feeding a toddler.
My son is nearly 15 months and I still nurse him 1-3 feeds a day. At the moment he is extremely ill and my Dr said he would have been hospitalized all ready if i didn't still breast-feed him (my immunity still passing through the breast milk).
I personally chose not to nurse in public, not even when he was a baby would i i would go to a parents room or to the car. This is not because of other peoples perceptions but because i found he nursed better with little distractions.
Do what you feel comfortable with if your child still wants to nurse and you are comfortable with it then do it. If you feel comfortable in public then do it if you dont then dont. Breast feeding is natural and the best thing for you baby.
Just a point to remember the average world age of breast-feeding is to 4 yrs old. The WHO recommends it until that time in Australia its recommended until 1 and then until 2 if both mother and child is willing.
Dont allow others insecurities to influence your life.
