How do you tune a rubber band guitar?
I'm doing this science project where we need to make a musical instrument. I decided to make a guitar. It was actually quite simple, my science partner and I just made a hollow box and stretched rubber bands of different lengths. It can play, but I'm not sure which notes are which. We need to play a simple song that everyone will know (Ex-Mary had a little lamb) I'm sure someone has done this before, but how do I make it so that it can play a song with notes. I hope that makes sense, thank you.
The more the rubber band is stretched out, the higher the pitch will be.
If this is just a simple project you don't really need to follow the EADGBE format as someone else mentioned -- it will be more work than what the grade is worth, most likely.
I suggest just experimenting a lot. Your ear should pick up if the notes start sounding like a song.
Edit: to follow the pattern to Mary had a little lamb...
if 3 is your highest note and 1 is your lowest, it'd start off like this: 3 2 1 2 3 3 3
