Play Center

Why do the Knicks play David Lee at center when he's better at playing the forward?
He's not a defensive stopper and cant block shots. So why do the Knicks play him at center. Its like they were really desperate. I remember when Matt Bonner was the starting center for the Spurs last season. These are players that I wouldn't have starting at that position for my team.
It's because of the offensive system that Mike D'Antoni uses in New York.
New York uses a Seven Seconds or Less offense, meaning that they are a fast-paced team relying on fast breaks in order to score.
Lee is a 6'9'' player, so he is better suited for this style of offense. He is faster than your typical center, which means he is effective running the fast break. If we had, say, Yao Ming in the Knicks, he wouldn't be as effective as Lee, since his 7'6'' stature means he is much slower and therefore less effective. In the Seven Seconds or Less offense, defense and blocking take a backseat to high-octane offense. Not cos the Knicks are desperate, but cos it works for them.
