Can anyone suggest sewing pattern software?
I'm looking for software that I can use to create a sewing pattern for a plush toy and for toques. I primarily use a Mac, but I have access to a PC as well... So software that works well with Mac is preferred, but not necessary. Can anyone give me any suggestions that they have experience with?
The problem with your question, is that there has been no market for software designers to produce such software. Most people I have heard use a program, it is has been for knitting or crocheting and they were not very pleased with them. Usually to create a pattern for anything, you start with an existing pattern and modify it. There are products that help you to copy the pattern and modify the copy rather than mess up your original. Crafters are still largely elderly and female, not a target audience that most software companies, dominated by young males, look to carter to.
Sewing machine companies who already do software work on their new computerized machines would seem the ideal choice, but making software that would allow the customer to make their own patterns would damage the existing pattern making companies. So, i don't think you are going to find one, but if you do, let us know
