Cloth diaper question: How do these work?
We are now trying for our second child and with our first, we did disposable diapers and wipes. With this child, we are doing cloth diapers and cloth wipes, along with many things organic (Just doing our part to protect the planet, and of course better for baby!). Since I have never done cloth diapers before, how do you do it when you travel, simple trips to the park, friends house, etc? One of my friends uses cloth diapers on her baby only when she is home and does disposable for the rest. I plan on using strictly cloth diapers and cloth wipes. Any input on using cloth diapers would be be greatly appreciated, as this is new to me!
We strictly use cloth diapers, and really it's easy, as long as you prepare before you leave the house.
For wipes, I have a small tupperware container that I fold/roll-up a 4 to 6 wipes in. I pre-wet my wipes with the same wipe solution I normally use. (about 2 cups of water, 1 squirt baby oil, 1 drop baby soap)
If I think that my baby might poop while we are out, we line the diaper with a disposable biodegradable liner. This makes clean-up on the go easier, as liner and poop will fall into the toilet.
We have a small wet-bagg that can contain about 4 diapers. We just roll-up the diaper like it was a disposable one and place into the bag with the wipes we used. When we get home, we separate the inserts from the covers of the pocket diapers, and place in the dry pail. The wet-bag gets washed along with the diapers.
It's really no big deal once you get used to it
Congrats on your decision to use cloth!
