May i know what is the difference between Cereal and Porridge?
My baby is 8mths old. I m giving her homemade organic white & brown rice grains which i grind it into powder. When i grind into powder n then cook it, is that called "Cereal" or "porridge"? I was told otherwise and confuse over these 2 terms.
Also at this point of time (8mths old), how many meals should my baby be taking? i m giving lunch (homemade rice + veg) and teabreak (fruit). Is that enough for my baby?
Thanks.
I didnt know the way i m doing (grind white & brown rice) is actually porridge. I actually started this since she was 6mths old. Is that alrite since i didnt give any cereal?
Btw i m still BFing her. So i shld increase 1 more meal of rice? pls. advise.
as long as your baby likes what you are giving her, you should not be overtly concerned with the terms.
at the end of the day, you want a healthy and growing baby and not stressed by the parenthood mumbo jumbo.
q2 -- in between lunch and dinner, you may want to supplement with milk. the aim is wean your child to eat at regular intervals so that he/she will eventually eat and sleep as normal people (break, lunch, dinner, supper + 8-10 hours sleep). start at 4 hour intervals then slowly increase the intervals by 30 mins to 1 hour, monthly.
but don't be stressed, if the baby is hungry just feed him/her. and then try again next time. the baby will eventually get used to the routine. he/she (as all babies) are smart. in the long run, both of you will eat and sleep well.
