what are the biggest sources of environmental pollution?
going organic is EXPENSIVE! you start with a few groceries, then cleaning products, add on organic coton baby diapers, natural mattresses, chemical-free paints for the home, shoes that are chemical-free and artisanally made.... etc. etc. to be truly consistant in every area is impossible... so i'd like to know what should be my priorities?? what percentage of pollution actually comes from the "little guy" vs. the big factories i have no control over. part of the effort is health motivated, but otherwise...does all the effort and expense really make a difference in the long run?
You are right about doing your part as a small equation of the population. I figure if you are conscientious about doing your part, then work on the bigger offenders like coal fired power plants, sewage treatment plants on water ways, and local government waste problems. There are so many corporate polluters that far exceed individuals that it is mind boggling!
Cleaner choices are there and have been there for a while...getting them to make the choice from public pressure is so important right now!
And don't worry, corporate America is waiting for pressure from individuals.
