Organic Baby Insect Repellent
What is a safe bug spray for an infant?

I asked the pharmacist today and she said that I shouldn't use anything and that if I do it should be Deet free...she said that even the smallest amounts of the Deet are harmful to babies his age (he is 7 months old). She also told me to talk to his pediatrician before trying anything. I WILL call tomorrow, but I was wondering what you used/use for your infants...? I looked in EVERY spot of Walmart and Walgreens that had bug spray and other insect repellents and neither of them had any that were labeled "Deet free" or "safe for babies" or "baby bug spray" LOL My friends mother that runs a daycare showed me the stuff that she uses and one was "OFF for kids" and another was some organic, Deet free stuff. I couldn't find it anywhere. I found the stuff for kids...but it still has Deet in it (I believe).

Also, are there any natural, homemade things that I could use that you might know of?

yup - skin so soft from Avon works realllly well, but be careful not to put it on them without sunscreen. It tends to work a little like baby oil if you use it on it's own (the skin so soft oil); Alternately, oranges are a natural black bug and mosquito repellent. Just feeding him oranges before going outside will help keep the bugs off, or you could rub so of the peel on his arms legs and behind his ears. Hope that helps!
