Is there a way to make homemade Gerber Puffs?
My daughter loves Gerber Puffs, and I like that they are easy for her to eat (she's 11 months with only 2 teeth). But I don't trust commercial baby food - I'd love to make my own with organic fruits and veggies and organic flour. Looks like they are mostly flour and then the fruit or veggie puree. Anyone have any ideas? I'm not much of a chef - so I'm not sure what I would need to add to make them disolve easily and get fluffy like the Gerber ones.
Try "Super Baby" - the book has much more than just cooking, but the cooking and food section is fantastic. It will help you avoid paying for canned baby food, which means you can make it as organic as you want. For very little effort, I didn't buy infant (stage 1) baby food, except for keeping one in the diaper bag for 'emergencies' or for long trips.
There's a recipie for puffed rice in the newest Fannie Farmer cookbook - it's for cooked rice, admittedly, but it might help give you an idea of how toproceed to make the puffs.
