Breastfeeding NOT the miracle diet it claims to be?
I'm a new mom to a happy 3 month baby boy. During my pregnancy I gained about 40 lbs and lost 20 during the birth. Another 5 came off within a week and 15 fricken pounds are lingering and NOT coming off.
I was 125 pre-preg. I ate well during pregnancy and worked out daily. I was/am a health nut who only eats organic food and cooks EVERYTHING from scratch. (This is a lean household.) I'm also walking 5 miles a day with my baby in a sling with ankle weights plus 20 minutes on an elliptical during naptime plus pilates before bed. I should be lean and mean by now but instead I'm still flabby and the scale hasn't budged. Pre-preg if I ate and worked out like this I would have been a stick figure.
Is it because I'm nursing? Maybe my body is holding onto the weight? Anyone else find nursing not to be the diet it claims to be? If so this stinks because I plan to nurse for at least 16 months.
I'm right there with you. Many women lose weight without trying while breastfeeding, like my SIL. I'm not one of them. My weight will not budge while I'm nursing. I could lose some weight if I really worked, but those last 15 pounds won't budge. Oh, well. It's a small sacrifice for my babies! What's a couple years? Nothing.
Wait, your baby's only three months old? Baby, you're still recovering from birth. Give your body a break. I think you're beautiful the way you are. Relaxed and just be amazed at what our bodies can do.
