How can I switch my baby teddy bear hamster's food?
Today I brought home a baby teddy bear hamster it was just old enough for me to take it home I got a bit of the food that it had been fed (the block/chunk things that they have at the pet store) When and how can I switch it over to the grain seed mixture stuff? Also any name ideas would be cool? I'm thinking maybe rambo?
Well for names i always use characters from my books or a favorite film or something, but thats just me, you can find long lists of names on different sites, so have a look around.
As for the food you have to ease them into it gently, dont just stop feeding them the blocks and put the seed mix in there
Start off as hand feeding him a bit of the seed mix a day, then putting the blocks in the bowl.
After a few days of doing this start putting the seed mix into the bowl along with the other stuff, more of the blocks than the seed mix though.
After a day or so of that increase the amount of seed mix and lessen the amount of blocks
Keep doing this until you have eliminated the blocks from his diet
Too sudden change can kill him!
