My 11.5 month puts everything in his mouth. I mean EVERYTHING!?
People say this will get better with time but it has not been getting ANY better. He puts everything in his mouth...it's insane. We go to gymboree class and here he is putting blocks, sponges, rattles etc. in his mouth while the other kids who are the same age rarely are doing this anymore and are playing with the toys for their intended purposes like shaking the rattle and not sucking on it. FYI he is a late teether. He just got his two bottom teeth a few weeks ago. Anyhow, I don't know if this makes a difference or not. I am just wondering if others out there have older babies that are still sticking everything in their mouths and WHEN will this get better?
I wouldnt worry too much - babies discover about life by putting things in their mouth. Especially if he is a late teether, he will still want to suck. Watch him carefully to make sure he doesnt put anything disgusting in his mouth - its good that you are socialising him - he will pick up things from other kids.
Have a word with your health visitor if you are that worried. I bet he is doing other things before others - eg walking, crawling?
