I want to meet other comic book artists, I would love to learn how they got their start and any adivise?
I am a comic book artist with a web site up and running. I hit a rut where I am having a hard time getting back into the groove of things. I would love to meet other comic book artists, love to get any advise, it would be wonderful to share thoughts and such?
There are so many comic book conventions and animation conventions around the nation these days there should be one with-in a days driving distance from any place you live. Networking at conventions is an excellent way to keep in touch with those in your industry, plus you will be surrounding yourself with fans who share your passion.
If you want to meet those who work in the industry, dress well (but don't over dress), and avoid cosplaying(if your into that) during networking time!
Sometimes seeing someone you know from the industry in the hallway, elevator, or just passing them at lunch is a perfect time to introduce yourself, when the artists are away from their fans.
To recap, Conventions. Dress for success. Avoid 'meet and greet' lines. OH! And have some of your work with you. Have it ready to present in a portfolio, not just in a sketch book.
